Text: 1 Corinthians 7:1-7

I Corinthians Series

In the last sermon, we concluded Paul's discussion of sexual immorality, but Paul's inspired desire for us is not to view sexuality as perverse. In this sermon, we will begin our examination of chapter 7, where Paul will dedicate a good chunk of text to the proper role of marital relations. We will pay special attention to Paul's delicate balance on the topic of marriage. On the one hand condemning how the world has perverted God's design of marital relations, while simultaneously praising our created sexuality within the proper channels. Also, while Paul lauds marriage, he maintains his balanced approach by laying out the God given gift of singleness as well. To top it all off, we will spend some time discussing how the Church has at times destroyed Paul's balance by taking to extremes one of the many marital topics discussed in these seven verses 1 Corinthians 7:1-7
