Text: I Corinthians 5:1-13

I Corinthians Series

As we open chapter 5 this week Paul begins to get personal with the Corinthians. There has been a build up to this. He has reminded them who they are; those sanctified in Christ, His called ones. He has proclaimed to them the truth that he brought them, that is Christ and Him crucified, he has questioned the divisions within the church, when they are all Christ's, He has reminded them of who he is, a servant and steward of God, their father in the faith, and they are his beloved children. All of this was for their benefit, he wants them to understand his motive and his heart. Now he challenges them on the fact that immorality is in the church and they are sitting by either ignoring it or justifying it, instead of confronting the wayward brother, and removing him from among them. There is a call for discipline. We will look at four factors to discipline in this passage for us to understand and apply to our own lives. I Corinthians 5:1-13
